Effective representation goes beyond voicing the concerns of the community; it requires a genuine willingness to engage with them directly. My promise to not only stand up and advocate on behalf of the citizens of Perth but also to make myself available to listen.

It is about being your advocate, someone who understands the unique challenges and aspirations of our community. However, equally important is the commitment to sit down and listen. This means creating accessible channels for open dialogue, where you feel heard and valued. Active listening fosters trust, builds stronger relationships, and informs more responsive policies that truly reflect the community’s diverse perspectives.
About Dave Bird
Dave is a well known, respected member of the Perth Community. He was a police officer, first in London, England, then with the Perth Police Service and finally with the OPP for over 43 years. He is known to generations of Perth children from his time as the Schools Liaison Officer. In 2002 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in honour of his commitment and involvement in the Perth Community.
Dave has strong leadership experience, the ability to think quickly, and adapt to unexpected situations.
Dave has served two terms on Perth Council, and has sat on the Heritage Committee, the Dog Park Committee, and the Finance Committee. He has gained valuable knowledge and experience with the realities and challenges of managing a town the size of Perth. He realizes the futility of making promises that are financially or organizationally unfeasible to achieve. His integrity and sense of responsibility will not allow him to simply tell people what they want to hear.
Dave is also well known in the community from performing in local community theatre for over thirty years. He has developed has strong communication skills, the ability to express emotions clearly, and connect ideas in an engaging way. He is extremely comfortable and effective as a public speaker, inspiring confidence and trust.
